On one chilly New York morning, I came over to Laura Hames Franklin’s Brooklyn home for a breakfast—a “superhuman breakfast”. The word “breakfast” in itself makes me happy, but a “superhuman” one, and in the company of the magical healer, leader and entrepreneur Laura? It was a morning to remember that ended in a private Body Wisdom session (read more about it below) but first, let me clarify what a Superhuman Breakfast is all about.
In terms of food, it’s a bowl of steamed organic veggies with soft-boiled eggs and sauerkraut (see recipe at the end of this post). Nutrition-wise, it’s a protein and fiber-packed savory breakfast that helps you connect with your inner body wisdom. When it comes to energetic properties, it’s a meal filled with love that and a transformation that starts on your plate with a ripple effect in all of your life.

ON SUPERHUMAN BREAKFAST
Starting the day with protein sets up our metabolism for the day and helps regulate bloog sugar. It’s also important to eat it within an hour of waking up.
When you go through the videos [in the 5-day challenge], you’ll see that some of the sessions aren’t about food, but about subconscious shifting of relationship with food.
ON SUPERHUMAN LIVING
It’s hard to put what I do into words, but I like the analogy of a computer going online. What I’m doing is supporting people to clean up their computers so they get a clear or faster internet connection and does everything improves and it’s much more enjoyable. It goes for business, personal relationships, relationship with your body. It’s health, it’s movement, it’s a paradigm of the world. Calling it “superhuman” kind of says it all. It’s the next level of mind body mastery. It’s when you feel that you know about health, you meditate and you’ve been on the retreats. You’ve read all the books. What I’m doing is the next evolution of all of that. We’re here to really shift humans to a whole new superhuman level. And the next level of mind, body — it is terrifying and exciting.
It’s all about vibration of love within the body.
ON BODY TALK
I found Eric’s [Eric Franklin – creator of “The Franklin Method” and Laura’s husband] book I was like in college. I was like, “Oh, my god. This is the most amazing stuff ever.” As I was receiving sessions and then practicing the intelligence within my body, I was becoming a new person. BodyTalk is one of the most cutting-edge systems of energy medicine. The Franklin Method is very experiential, which is why I probably want to make a ton of videos. It’s about understanding the science of who we are, how are we designed, how we function and then actually bringing it into your body experience.
ON BODY WISDOM
Your body is a system of energy, all the parts are constantly communicating with all the other parts. And the health of your body is really how well is everything communicating. As life happens, stress happens. When you’ve got enough communication breakdowns, eventually you’ll get a symptom. And then stresses self-explode. Our body parts don’t have to be at war… we’re a system that’s designed to move. Imagery helps you actually be in your body and understand how we’re all connected. Even your capacity to imagine really changes as you get more into your body. Often I take someone through the [BodyTalk] experience and they feel like they’re in a whole other world. It’s like you have two different bodies like instantly. Ultimately, it’s all about vibration of love within the body. ON CHINESE MEDICINE
I started studying Chinese medicine when I moved to New York 11 years ago. There’s actually a lot of Chinese medicine background in Body Talk. Learning about the Chinese clothes and the different times of the day and how they correspond to our organs, was very interesting. For example, the stomach is the strongest between 7AM and 9AM. And then 7PM to 9PM is when the stomach is the weakest, which means it’s actually the worst to eat protein. If we’re digesting a big meal at night, our body doesn’t have the energy to take care of everything else. It helped me understand there’s no one solution for everyone. And yet there are connections, you know, for example the stomach chi is stronger in certain times of the day.
ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP
I see entrepreneurship as an external expression of someone who has recognized they have a commitment to the process of creating abundance from joy. Ultimately everyone is — that’s why we’re here. They’ve gone through enough of the external training, and they’re ready to go deeper. The work I do fast tracks entrepreneurs to what it’s really all about — connecting to the self. It dissolves the ego so that your mission can really be heard. Through that process you find a deeper level of connection to the whole which is then the recognition of how we’re all connected, and how all of our stories fit together and all the pieces and all our missions. And then crazy, core connections happen. It’s like, oh, of course that’s what you’re experiencing.
BEYOND LAW OF ATTRACTION
You try and attract what you want but you’re actually getting what your consciousness believes. It comes from the ego place and the desire place and the things outside of me. The consciousness shift happens when you feel it inside first. It’s like a whole other level of the law of attraction.
ON MEDITATION & WHOLLY SHIFT
For me, meditation is a state of being. It’s like the whole other concept to see what meditation is. A lot of people who meditate are still searching — they’re on a constant quest. It might not be enough because the other pieces aren’t there. Now since everything’s going online and things are getting faster now is the time we have to come together and superhuman school. We need the next level of superhuman awareness and capacity to master the next level of clarity — not like in meditation, but more and more consistently. The shift has to happen in each and every individual and then it’s all collective, and we feel it as a whole.
ON SOCIAL MEDIA
It’s about the connection. When I’m interacting in social media I feel so connected to people. Through photos, I can see and I can feel people’s expressions even if I don’t formally know them.
Ksenia: In conclusion, I had a BodyTalk session with Laura – during which she used tapping to reawaken the body’s energy circuits and tap into my body’s wisdom to see what is ready to improve. The idea is to bring awareness to the contradictions between the body and the mind so that we can let go of the past and help us move to the next level. After the session, I felt supported, expansive and energized. Having tried a variey of healing techniques, I have to say this was one of the most interesting ones I’ve experienced! SUPERHUMAN BREAKFAST RECIPE
(for more scoop on this transformative breakfast, sign up for the 5-day Superhuman Breakfast challenge) Ingredients (makes 1 serving):
- 1-2 Eggs (pastured raised, free range & organic if possible)
- 1 Cup Dark Leafty Greens (kale, collard greens, spinach, Swiss chard, etc.)
- 1/2 Small to Medium Sweet Potato
- 1-2 Tablespoons of Raw Sauerkraut
- Pink Himalayan Crystal
- Salt Olive Oil & Ground Pepper to Taste
Tools:
- 1 Steamer Pot with Lid (or pot fitted with steamer basket)
- Steamer
- 1 Small or Medium-Sized Pot
- Cutting Board
- Sharp Knife
Directions:
1. Fill Steamer Pot with 1/2 inch of water, turn heat on high
2. Fill Small Pot about 3/4 full with water and place eggs in Pot, turn heat on and bring to a low boil
3. Wash & chop sweet potato in 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch cubes (for faster cooking chop smaller). Place in steam basket, cover and steam for about 4 minutes
4. When eggs have started boiling on low heat, put on timer for 3 minutes (longer if you like cooked yolk)
5. Wash & chop greens with a sharp knife into bite sized pieces and put in steamer on top of sweet potatoes. Steam until they are vibrant green and tender (The sweet potatoes should be done at the same time)
6. Take eggs off heat and run under cool water to stop the cooking process 7. When sweet potatoes are tender (pierce with fork) and greens are bright and vibrant, remove from heat
8. Assemble your plate! Gently peel eggs and place on plate with greens, sweet potatoes, and 1-2 tablespoons of sauerkraut. Sprinkle eggs and veggies with pink Himalayan crystal salt. For additional flavor, drizzle some olive oil and add freshly ground pepper!
