A longtime fan of Le Pain Quotidien, I’m excited to announce that I will be hosting a very special dinner as part of LPQxFeed campaign.
Social entrepreneurship is very close to my heart, and I’m happy to support giving back in every way that I can, including my ethical shopping campaign #FairTuesday. FEED is a great example of a company that allows us to change the world through what we buy, and with their suppers campaign, with what we eat.
Food has the power to bring people together, build community, and create change. The act of coming together consciously in itself is a powerful thing, but when the gathering’s purpose is to (literally) feed the world, it’s that much more special.
In that spirit, Le Pain Quotidien has partnered with FEED to support the goal of raising 2 million meals by World Food Day on October 16. The campaign manifests in series of communal FEED Suppers helps from September 16th to October 16th at LPQ locations across USA. Join me for a very special LPQxFeed supper that I’m hosting at Le Pain Quotidien Brooklyn Heights (121 Montague St., Brooklyn, NY). Your ticket will provide 465 meals to families in need.
Heads up: I will be giving away Le Pain Quotidien gift card + heart bowl on @breakfastcriminals – stay tuned! Purchasers of LPQxFEED supper tickets that mention Breakfast Criminals during booking get an extra entry. To celebrate this wonderful campaign, I got together with LPQ team to chat LPQxFeed and more! You’re turning 25 – congratulations! How have things changed for LPQ since its first location in the US?
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years – and that we’ve been in New York for 18 of those years! As a brand, we’re always evolving and innovating, but we are proud that in the most important ways, we haven’t changed a bit. We believe in sticking to our roots, so it’s exciting to see such a widespread shift towards conscious eating because we have always been advocates of simple ingredients and plant-based eating. In that sense, the biggest change we’ve seen has actually been the guest’s growing expectation for healthy, organic and seasonal food, which we’re happy to see!
What’s your vision for LPQ for the near future? Any exciting new dishes?
On the horizon is hopefully a nationwide launch of our Organic Super Seed Gluten Free Bread which we just introduced in the New York area. Besides that, we have a fall menu kicking off in mid-October featuring hearty warm grains, a new twist on our popular Baker’s Lunch and a fall spiced drink, among others!
Pre-workout fuel of the brand new life-changing @lepainquotidien gluten free seedy loaf (rolling out at all NYC locations later this month!) with @windycityorganics sprouted almond butter, @emmysorganics raw buckwheat cereal, and organic banana. P.s. I’m in LA and want to know all the workouts I should do while here – please tag in comments ?? #breakfastcriminals A photo posted by Ksenia Lova, NYC (@breakfastcriminals) on
How did LPQxFEED come about?
Our Director of Marketing and Guest Relations attended the amazing conference, Cherry Bombe, here in NYC last March. Lauren Bush Lauren spoke to the crowd about the concept of the FEED Suppers and lightbulbs immediately went off – communal dining is at the core of our philosophy and we thought it was a great alignment/fit. We quickly connected with the FEED team and the partnership blossomed from there.
What is the inspiration behind the LPQxFeed suppers and is it going to be the same nationwide, or varied state to state?
We’ve always believed in the power of food to bring many together and now, with the LPQ x FEED Supper series, we are counting on the power of the community to bring food to many more people in need! Our goal is inspire the passionate and thoughtful Le Pain Quotidien community behind a cause where we can all make a meaningful impact.
The suppers will be more or less similar state-to-state, each with its own twist, with small variations on the menu, which by the way, we’re excited to debut!
What can attendees expect from the dinner?
Definitely a great menu and a fun evening ambience which might pleasantly surprise guests who are accustomed to joining us for breakfast or lunch! It will also be a fun way to learn more about us, our history and the suppliers who help us make a great meal.
What is your vision for this collaboration?
Above all, we want to shed light on the amazing work that FEED does as well as engage in the conversation about hunger, which is not only a global problem, but a local one too. Our collaboration and support of FEED does not end with the Suppers, we like to think of it as just the beginning.
Stay tuned for a special holiday edition product to be introduced late fall! Given that we are celebrating our 25th anniversary, it is important for us to find rewarding ways to give back to our own community and the greater global community.
How can each one of us help fight hunger on a daily basis?
Be aware and get involved. Start right here in your own neighborhood – there are so many organizations that serve the hungry in our own communities. Here in New York for example, we work with City Harvest and The Bowery Mission and have great respect for what they do.
