Today is my day one of my friend Kul Healthy You’s (aka Elena Kulakovska) 11-day Delicious Spring Detox. Yes, I said delicious and detox in one sentence, and I mean it! A holistic health coach and a graduate of Strala ready-to-lead (which I can’t wait to do this fall!), Elena somehow came up with a program that doesn’t make you feel like you’re depriving yourself from all the food and and fun. The 11-day detox, which she was very kind to share with me, includes recipes, suggested meals, shopping list, food diary, and tips that go well beyond detoxing your body through eating the right foods.
For example, there are super useful tips on dry brushing and oil pulling to help the detoxification process (did you know that you should rinse your mouth with warm sea salt water after oil pulling?). Elena suggests that you commit to at least 15 minutes of exercising per day – easy enough? The days when I don’t have time to go to yoga or running, I’m going to be doing YouTube videos with Tara Stiles.
Also – which completely blew me away – the detox program offers affirmations to help you stay focused and centered. Emotions are a big part of eating, and a lot of times we overeat just because we’re rushed, focused on something else but our food, or stressed. That’s why 1-minute meditations are part of the program – a simple breath exercise can help you get back to the centered YOU and control what, how much and how you eat.
Ok, now on to my favorite part… breakfasts! The names of the breakfast smoothies are enough to make me hungry: Strawberry Kale Yum Yum, Berry Bliss Splish Splash, Chocolate Fantasy. I just had the Berry Bliss Splish Splash for breakfast, and it was such a delicious nutritional powerhouse. Note that the sugar in it is super low, since berries aren’t high on sugar, but it’s still creamy and satisfying.

Original Recipe by Kul Healthy You
- 1.5 cups almond milk
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries)
- 1/2 Sambazon unsweetened açaí smoothie pack
- 1 cup kale
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- pro bio K liquid probiotic (optional, if you like the tart taste as much as I do and want to increase the amount of probiotics you’re taking)
- top with 2 tablespoons shredded coconut (optional)
