Who’s into making your own rules in the kitchen? ME!
Tara Stiles is my yoga mother and a known “yoga rebel”, and I love that she’s bringing her “Make Your Own Rules” motto into the cooking department.
One morning, I made Tara one of my signature acai bowls in a heart bowl before her class in Soho. Little did I know that the recipe would end up in her book–the real deal print edition of Make Your Own Rules Cookbook, a collection of healthy, easy, and great-tasting recipes from her travels around the world.
Hashtag grateful!
Before the book officially comes out on November 3, enjoy a couple of my favorite recipes from it as well as Tara’s take on… you got it, the most important meal of the day.
Tara Stiles on Breakfast Magic:
“It feels indulgent to take the time to create and enjoy a breakfast that fits on a plate instead of in a cup or mug. When I make the time to put together an actual meal for breakfast, I feel super–fueled up for the day and ready to get out there and enjoy the magic.
When we run on fumes, it’s trickier to see the magic that is in store for us each day, so fuel up properly more often than not and enjoy feeling fantastic from the inside out. Incorporate some full plates with your morning routine and you’ll see how energized you can be. Get your proper plates and bowls ready; it’s time for a hearty breakfast.”
Coconut Parfait Recipe
From Tara Stiles:
“While leading a retreat at the W Hotel in the Maldives, the chef prepared delicious and nourishing recipes inspired by my book Make Your Own Rules Diet. The chef added quite a few local, island-themed touches that gave me some new tricks to take home, try out, and share.
This breakfast (and almost dessert) is such a delicious treat to start the day with. It doesn’t take long to pre- pare, but you have to start on this recipe the night before for the parfait to set up properly.
Don’t worry: it only takes a few minutes, and you’ll have a fresh breakfast waiting for you in the morning. I enjoyed this after many sunrise yoga sessions, and it kept me going strong until refueling after a swim in the ocean or dip in the pool. It works to refresh and start the day when I’m back to city life, as well.”

Olive Guacamole Recipe
