Breakfast Criminals Instagram account turns 1 year today (yay!), and I thought it’s the perfect time to upgrade from a regular blender that I got from my friend Tatyana when she moved overseas to a high speed blender. When I saw this review of blenders by McKel Hill on one of my favorite websites, NutritionStripped.com, I knew that I had to have a Blendtec Designer Series. So I reached out and told them that. And they complimented my creations and generously provided a blender for me to test out. I am happy to present the new addition to the Breakfast Criminals kitchen – Blendtec Designer Series blender! If I had to describe my Blendtec in one sentence, I would simply say that it changed my life… in a very fun way.
With a motor 5 to 10 times more powerful than a typical kitchen blender (13 amps/1560 watts and 3 peak horsepower), blending speed of a lightning, a sleek illuminated touch panel with six blend cycles, and a big WildSide jar that fits 4 servings of my breakfast smoothie bowls, Blendtec Designer Series is perfect for making healthy breakfasts using fresh and frozen fruit, vegetables and nuts. The texture turns out super smooth and creamy.
I also have the Twister Jar – a smaller jar meant for blending thicker concoctions, such as homemade almond butter (yes!), cocoa nut truffles and hummus (which I make with turmeric, truffle olive oil and ginger).
Some pros of Blendtec Designer Series blender that I’ve experienced include:
- 3 horsepower motor for an incredible blending speed
- sleek design
- cool illuminated panel with 6 blend cycles
- super easy cleaning (designed in such a way that pieces of food don’t get stuck anywhere)
- the BPA-Free Wildside jar fits in 90 fl oz, or over 2.5 liters of smoothies
- achieves super smooth consistency in frozen and fresh smoothies and soups
- blends nuts into a creamy texture without chunks (my raw cocoa nut balls proved it)
- recipe book including smoothies, baked goods, nut dishes, soups, etc. Definitely going to use it!
The only disadvantages of Blendtec Designer Series is that is can get pretty loud (your roommates will forgive you if you share your blended creation with them, I promise), and the lid sometimes has to be held down to stay in place (doable).
Other than that, Blendtec Designer Series is to me what a new MacBook Pro would be to a nerd… such a fun gadget to play with!
