Ksenia - What Is Cacao Ceremony | The Best Ceremonial Cacao To Buy OnlineSo you’re curious about trying ceremonial cacao. But what is the best ceremonial cacao to buy online?

Here are my favorites! Tune into which ceremonial cacao is calling you.

If you’re called to experiment with different ceremonial cacao brands and can afford it, follow the calling – otherwise start with one and see how it feels as part of your morning or afternoon ritual.

Remember: cacao spirit is a frequency that can be called upon even when not drinking cacao. We covered its plant consciousness on this Ksenia Brief podcast episode.

That said, the physical benefits of drinking ceremonial cacao are undeniable, and it’s oh so delicious and grounding!

As you may have picked up on the podcast episode, our recommendation is to not use store bought powder cacao. It has usually been dutch processed (or stripped of its nutrients and the fat), so it will most likely not be an authentic experience.

Not to mention all the brands we use are trusted for their integrity and authenticity.

While ceremonial cacao can seem expensive, please consider the price of making sure farmers and workers are paid fair wages. Unfortunately most of the cacao farmers in the world are extremely underpaid.

Ksenia’s Ceremonial Cacao Recommendations:

I’ve intentionally sat with every major cacao brand on the market, and these are my very favorites right now – based on the taste, texture, authenticity and integrity of the brand, and energetic experience of the product. Choose what speaks to you!

1. Legacy Cacao

The legend goes that the Mayan Priestess of Cacao chose Legacy to spread the native plant medicine to open your heart, maximize your zone of genius, and nourish your body. It’s a fair profit company and they only have one blend: an original recipe with vanilla, panela and spices. You receive your cacao with a beautiful handwoven Mayan cloth bag, and each cacao bag is blessed and marked with the day it was made on according to the Mayan Sacred Calendar.

This is the cacao I’m currently the most drawn to daily! It’s also the most beautifully packaged cacao that makes a stunning gift.

Tune into the frequency of this brand and its mission on episode 145 with founder Michelle Sinnette.

Please note: this cacao is already pre-sweetened so you won’t be able to control the level of sweetness. It’s more expensive than most ceremonial cacao and that said, this is the cacao I have the most affinity with for special ceremonies.

2. Ora Cacao (formerly Firefly Chocolate)

Firefly ceremonial cacao comes in a disk shape that’s very easy to blend (or eat straight up, which is what I often end up doing).

I have ordered the Ceremonial Cacao Sampler Kit and tried all the flavors, and these are my favorites:

  • Tantric Rose Blossom – the only ingredients are ceremonial cacao and rose blend, no sweetener. It’s smooth and warming. Rose and chocolate make a fantastic heart-opening combo.
  • Vibrant Vitality – this ceremonial cacao with tricolor maca and turmeric is very nutty and earthy, and is one of my all-time favorites. Blend it with hot water, coconut oil and sweetener, and it’s ready!
  • Connected Colombia – the only ingredient is 100% ceremonial cacao with nothing added, yet this is one of the smoothest cacao experiences I’ve ever had. I’m obsessed!

3. Cacao Laboratory

Cacao Lab is a conscious ceremonial cacao brand founded to bridge the gap between the modern culture and the indigenous communities. They work closely with the Tzʼutujil in Guatemala to spread the message of cacao medicine around the world.

  • Plain: 1KG ceremonial cacao paste block with nothing added – buy this if you want plain cacao and will add your own spices. The experience is smooth and powerfully grounding. Format: It comes in what looks like an oversized chocolate bar shape, making you feel like you’re Alice in Wonderland. Make sure you chop it before blending. This cacao is great for making your own sacred ceremonial chocolate!
  • Spiced: Elemental cacao options are Water, Fire, Air and Water, with spices and superfoods like cardamom, maca and damiana already added (no sweetener). Format: Chocolate bars that can be easily broken up into squares and places into a blender – no chopping needed.

4. Cacoco Drinking Chocolate by Coracao

Cacoco Drinking Chocolate is an easy, delicious entry into ceremonial cacao. It was one of the very first drinking chocolates I’d ever tried, and it remains one of my favorites. It comes in smaller, 7.05-oz (200 g) packages, and is super easy to make by mixing the drinking chocolate with hot water. It’s my favorite cacao to bring on the road – it turns out great even when mixed with a fork, and there’s nothing you need to add to get a complete cup of thick, delicious drinking cacao. A handheld frother is my preferred method of making it though!

Cacoco (Cacoco Cacao is a mouthful, I know) offers a variety of drinking chocolate flavors (all clean ingredients like reishi, habanero, lucuma, rose, sweetened with coconut sugar), and my personal favorites are:

The brand’s recommendation is to use 3 tablespoons cacao with 1/4 cup water to make a super thick hot chocolate, but personally I prefer using at least 1/2 cup hot water. It makes a wonderfully delectable post-meal beverage. If I’m in the mood for a mocha latte, a tablespoon of the Spicy Dark Drinking Chocolate mixed with oat milk and espresso is my go-to.

If you’re curious about the Prop 65 warning on this cacao, you can read more about it here. Based on my personal research, it doesn’t seem to be a reason for concern at this time. Trust your own research and intuition!

5. Keith’s Cacao

Keith’s Cacao could be the most potent cacao I’ve experienced – start with a smaller dose. Keith’s ceremonial cacao blocks come pure with nothing added, making it a powerful way of connecting with pure cacao and a flavor playground to add spices and superfoods you’re drawn to.

Keith’s Cacao is said to be the world’s first “ceremonial” cacao founded by Keith, aka “The chocolate shaman.”
