What comes to mind when I say “fudge”?
There’s part of me that imagines a sugar-loaded, processed chocolate candy sold next to caramelized apples at a fair.
The other part of me imagines a delicious, nourishing, and clean blackberry chocolate fudge with a hint of lemon… yum! The recipe for this divine dessert is below.
Pssst, if you crave chocolate every day, I don’t judge you.
There’s actually scientific research that makes it 100% valid.
As you may already know from my post about ceremonial cacao, cacao contains anandamide, a neurotransmitter produced in the brain that binds to the THC receptors. It’s also known as the “bliss molecule”— named after ananda, the Sanskrit word for “bliss.”
Pure chocolate even produces a similar endocannabinoid receptor-stimulating effect on your body to CBD oil. Oh, and magnesium! An ounce of dark chocolate contains 64 mg of magnesium—about 15% of the RDA—which can have a naturally relaxing, anxiety-reducing effect on the body.
So, it’s only natural that we crave chocolate when we feel physical or emotional stress.
Disclosure: the same mood-boosting effects can’t be replicated by a pint of chocolate ice cream or conventional processed chocolates.
To get a real mood boost, you need to go for 100% chocolate with no wonky additives, carefully sourced heirloom chocolate (like this chocolate with adaptogens) pure chocolate or high-quality ceremonial cacao.
