As I’m starting to pack for 16 months of travel (you can follow along on the upcoming digitaloralive.com), I’m going through all my superfood cabinets to decide what’s going to make the cut in my (very) limited luggage space.
Tough choices!
With an abundance of superfood powders out there, it can be hard to decide what truly is a MUST have in your kitchen. You feel me?
The one thing that I can’t live without is a great green superfood powder. But the truth is, some of them taste waaaaay too green. Others have a nice flavor, but the list of ingredients is too long and confusing.
These days I’m all about simplification. And my new go-to green powder is by The Natural Citizen.
Here’s why it won a precious spot in my luggage:
- It’s made with four ingredients only: moringa (one of my all-time favorite Ayurveda-approved superfoods), spirulina, alfalfa leaf and barley grass
- It’s certified organic, vegan, gluten free and non-GMO
- No additives or sweeteners
- It’s the perfect on-the-go replacement for fresh dark leafy greens in smoothie
- It tastes delicious (recipe below)
- It’s rich in Vitamin A (for glowing skin), Calcium (for healthy bones, teeth & nails) and Iron (vital for hormonal health!)
- Bonus: For every purchase of The Natural Citizen, 3 meals are donated to nourish the hungry. Bingo!
I’m also into The Natural Citizen’s Organic Energy powder with organic quinoa, maca, green tea and Rhodiola rosea. It’s a perfect boost to your afternoon smoothie – think a super healthy coffee alternative.
Here are two of my favorite easy recipes with both Organic Greens and Organic Energy powders. Have them separately or attempt a layered smoothie. Who’s ready for the the challenge?
Confession: the initial idea was to have a complicated four-layer creation, but I was too impatient and failed (as you may gave witnesses on snapchat – I’m @brkfstcriminals). No matter what, it tasted da-YUM good.
Enjoy and experiment by adding your fave Natural Citizen powders to oatmeals, pancakes and smoothie bowls!
