And, kids, back to the healthy twist on the cookie dough–no cookie jar crime involved, I promise. Listen up.
The humid, hot summer has finally hit New York, which means that bowls (and jars) of cooling, pudding-like, flavorful breakfasts are happening at Breakfast Criminals HQ every morning. Creamy, chewy overnight oats (especially the coconut bircher muesli), naturally, a hit.
But what if you take the overnight oats, blend them with a perfectly ripe frozen banana, delicious chai spices, healing turmeric, heavenly coconut butter, and add some crunchy coconut chips on top?
That’s when the magic happens.
Generally a huge fan of the turmeric (it aids digestion and helps support the immune system), I put the spice pretty much in everything–from my morning elixir to juice, avocado toast and oatmeal. While turmeric on its own can be quite overpowering, I love Gaia Herbs Turmeric Boost, which I first got to try at a Whole Foods sampling on a trip to California.
Oh my, was it love at first bite (more like, sip straight from the blender!). TurmericBoost: Restore is simply turmeric, black pepper for better absorption (you can’t taste it), and prebiotic vanilla chai spices (organic cardamom, cinnamon, allspice, star anise, vanilla and holy basil). There are no sugar, flavorings or fillers, only pure spice goodness.
Here’s the recipe!
Oatmeal Cookie Dough Breakfast Smoothie with Turmeric Boost
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup almond milk or nut milk of choice
- 1.5 tsp. Turmeric Boost: Restore
- 1 ripe, peeled frozen banana
- 1 tbs. organic coconut butter
- Optional: 1/3 tsp. vanilla probiotic powder for additional probiotic boost
Topping options: coconut chips, bee pollen, ripe banana, shredded coconut, cinnamon.
Directions:
- Mix oats with nut milk in a jar and leave to soak overnight in the fridge. Soaked oats have enzymes that help digestion and create a delicious creamy flavor!
- In the morning, blend your soaked oats with frozen banana, Turmeric Boost, coconut butter and probiotic. Add more nut milk if needed.
- Use your choice of toppings.
- Serve in your heart bowl.
- Enjoy!
Thank you Gaia herbs for sending me Turmeric Boost and sponsoring this post. I’m hooked!
